Our History

CAVAD is the oldest Vietnamese dental organization in the United States, established in 1983 by Dr. Lê Trọng Phong.

The California Association of Vietnamese American Dentists (CAVAD) is a community built to uplift and connect Vietnamese American dentists, dental specialists, students, and the families we serve. From the beginning, our purpose has been simple: to bring people together, share knowledge, and strengthen our presence within the dental profession.

After a recent period of quiet activity, CAVAD is entering a renewed chapter with refreshed leadership, new energy, and a clear commitment to our mission, CAVAD is rebuilding our dental community.

This revitalized chapter focuses on strengthening our network, expanding mentorship for students and young dentists, and creating meaningful cultural and professional opportunities. Together, we honor the foundation built by those who came before us, and we look forward to shaping the next era of CAVAD together.

Our Mission

CAVAD supports the success of Vietnamese American dental professionals through continuing education, networking, cultural connection, and community service, while welcoming dentists of all backgrounds who share these values. We are committed to mentorship that guides and empowers emerging dentists as they begin their careers, and together we work to strengthen the profession and make a meaningful impact on the communities we proudly serve.
